Drake’s is a South Australian family owned and operated grocery retailer of over 60 stores nationally. Over the last 47 years, they have become Australia’s largest independent grocery group employing over 6,000 people. Drake’s Supermarkets remain committed to supporting local suppliers, farmers and the local community.

Drake’s Supermarkets officially opened their $125 million, state of the art Distribution Centre in Edinburgh North in September 2019, rounding out their self-supply model. The Brave Logistics Distribution Centre is three times the size of the MCG, and is the most advanced independent distribution and logistics centre of its kind. It houses first of its kind robotics, used to individually pick inventory items for store replenishment using a “goods-to-person” configuration, which ensures accuracy of store orders and providing products at a lower cost to consumers.

“We are extremely proud to partner with The Barossa Co-op; another like-minded and proud South Australian business, to provide Barossa Fresh a broader range for the best possible prices” said Roger Drake. “It is important to us to continue to innovate as a business and provide other independent supermarkets like Barossa Fresh, the opportunity to tap into our network in order to provide their customers and their community more range and value.”

“Drakes Supermarkets is a South Australian, family owned and operated business that has taken the leap to go out on our own, take on the big corporations and provide our customers the biggest range of products for the best possible prices.”

“It is really important to us to stimulate the SA economy by keeping it local and looking out for the interest of everyday families and customers in our state.”
