Terms and Conditions.

Introduction

Community Choice is Barossa Co-op’s community donation program. It aims to provide support to local charities, clubs and organisations to achieve their goals and make a meaningful impact in our local communities.

Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

“Applicant” means a Local Community Group or an individual representative acting on behalf of a Local Community Group that applies to participate in Community Choice.

“Barossa Co-op” means The Community Co-operative Store (Nuriootpa) Limited (ABN 80 147 431 373).

“Local Areas” means within the local government areas of Barossa Council and Light Regional Council.

“Local Community Group” means:

  • a registered charity; or
  • a not-for-profit club or organisation.

“Community Choice” means this Community Choice Program.

Eligibility

Applicants must represent a local, registered charity, club or organisation to qualify for consideration for Community Choice.

Community Choice does not support individuals and their personal fund-raising efforts.

The Local Community Group must hold an active Barossa Co-op membership in the name of the organisation to be considered for Community Choice.

The Local Community Group must be geographically located within the Barossa and Light regional areas.

Application is only open to Local Community Groups that are dedicated to making a difference and enhancing the quality of life within our Local Areas.

Local teams or individual participants of large-scale charity fundraising events are NOT considered “Local Community Groups” and therefore are NOT eligible to apply.

Companies, businesses or groups that are intended to generate a profit are NOT eligible to apply.

Barossa Co-op Sponsorship recipients, currently receiving Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsorship are not eligible to apply.

Application

Applications for Community Choice will open in August and February each year.

To participate in Community Choice, eligible Local Community Groups must apply for Community Choice by visiting https://barossa.coop/community-choice/ and completing the online application form. Applications must include all required details.

Each Local Community Group must not submit more than one application at a time and therefore must wait for an existing application to be approved or rejected before applying again.

Successful Local Community Groups may only participate in Community Choice once in any twelve (12) month period.

For the avoidance of doubt, a “twelve (12) month period” refers to the time since the Local Community Group last participated in Community Choice. This does not refer to a calendar year from January to December each year.

Review

Barossa Co-op will review each application for eligibility and compliance with these Terms and Conditions. Barossa Co-op will then choose from the eligible applications which Local Community Groups will participate in Community Choice, at Barossa Co-op’s absolute discretion.

Barossa Co-op may contact Applicants for additional information or clarification when reviewing applications. If Barossa Co-op is unable to contact an Applicant, the application may be rejected.

Barossa Co-op may, in its absolute discretion, determine that the Local Community Group does not serve the Local Areas, in which case the application will be rejected.

Approval and participation in Community Choice is based on eligibility and compliance in accordance with these Terms and Conditions as determined by Barossa Co-op in its absolute discretion.

Barossa Co-op will notify Applicants via email to the individual nominated on the application form whether their application has been successful or not.

If an Applicant believes that their application has been unfairly assessed, they may submit an enquiry to sponsorship@barossa.coop and ask for their application to be re-assessed. Once this has occurred, the decision by Barossa Co-op is final and no further correspondence will be entered into.

Due to the volume of applications received, Barossa Co-op will select Local Community Groups that it considers meets the eligibility criteria and best suits the Community Choice program.

Participation

Barossa Co-op will select three (3) similar Local Community Groups to participate in the Community Choice program each month. Local Community Groups will be selected for the six (6) month period following the application month. Each Local Community Group will be notified by email, including which month they will participate in the Community Choice program.

Each Barossa Co-op owned store will have a Community Choice display, identifying the selected Local Community Groups and a blurb based on the information provided in the successful application. Barossa Co-op reserves the right to edit the details and blurb for the display.

Barossa Co-op will use an electronic voting system for the Community Choice program.

Voting is open to all community members. The community is invited to vote for one Local Community Group of their choice. Each person will only be able to vote once per calendar month and must vote by scanning the QR code located in Barossa Co-op owned stores.

Voting will be open for the first three (3) weeks of each calendar month. When voting ceases a total of $2000 will be donated by Barossa Co-op each month and distributed as follows: (a) The Local Community Group with the most votes will be awarded 1st place and receive a $1000 donation, and the remaining two Local Community Groups that place 2nd and 3rd will be given a $700 donation and a $300 donation respectively; (b) In the event of a tie between two Local Community Groups for 1st place, each of those tied Local Community Groups will receive $850 and the third Local Community Group will receive $300; (c) In the event of a tie between all three Local Community Groups for 1st place, the $2000 total will be split evenly with each Local Community Group receiving $666.66.

The selected Local Community Groups will be notified of the outcome by email after voting has closed at the end of the month. Results on the placings will also be displayed on a “Last Month’s Recipients” card on the Community Choice display the following month.

Donations

Donations will be made in the form of Barossa Co-op store credit or gift cards to the Local Community Group based on the details set out in the application form.

Gift cards will be available for collection from the Customer Service desk within the Barossa Central mall. Gift cards will not be posted. It is the responsibility of each Local Community Group to collect the gift cards from the Customer Service desk within the Barossa Central mall within one (1) month from the end of the calendar month they participated in.

If a Local Community Group does not collect their gift cards from the Customer Service desk within the Barossa Central mall within one (1) month from the end of the calendar month they participated in, the Local Community Group will need to submit a request to claim their donation to sponsorship@barossa.coop.

Communications

Applicants agree that the individual nominated on the application form may be sent email communications regarding the progress of their application and participation in the Community Choice program.

Privacy

Unless the Applicant opts out on the application form, Barossa Co-op may use the information provided for an indefinite period for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the Applicant.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with Barossa Co-op’s privacy policy available at https://barossa.coop/privacy-policy/
