Tips for Your Summer Retreat
The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping and the days are getting longer – summer is finally here and we’re ready for it!
After what feels like an eternal winter, there’s no better feeling than throwing open the windows to let that fresh air and sunshine in. It’s also the perfect time to give your home a summer glow up. Read on for our summer décor tips for the two most used rooms in the home, the bedroom and bathroom!
We spend a quarter of our lifetimes asleep, and a highlight of a long day is unwinding in the bath or shower, so it’s most important for the bedroom and bathroom to be visually soothing and appealing.
For the bedroom, embrace the season and welcome in the fresh summer sunlight. Open the windows and keep them free of obstacles so they can be flung open whenever nights get warm. Nothing cheers a room up for summertime than a splash of bright colour or pattern.
New bedding is one of the more cost-friendly ways to completely revamp a room, and you can find a whole variety of colours and patterns to suit your aesthetic. If you’re more of a neutral décor fan, try adding a small pop of colour through a throw cushion or blanket. Or opt for a cheery floral pattern that will bring in outdoors in.
Another great summer addition to the bedroom is a diffuser. Choose a light, floral or citrusy scent and you’ll be rewarded with sweet perfume that will last throughout the summer months.
For the bathroom, it doesn’t take much to completely revitalise your space. Switch out darker tones in towels and bath mats for crisp, light selections. Pastel yellows, sage greens or sky blues are the perfect summery tones for bathroom towels, and will add a splash of colour.
Indoor plants are still a very popular décor trend, and will breathe new life into your bathroom while bringing the outdoors in. Nestle some succulents on the windowsill, or add some ferns and orchids, which typically do well in bathrooms with lots of natural lighting. The steamy air from showers and baths will make these plants low maintenance, as they will absorb the moisture from the air.
