Coffee at Fresh Cafe
What’s new at Barossa Fresh Foodland?
Our coffee is new and it’s 100% unique to the Fresh Café!
We’ve been searching far and wide to find the best coffee beans to introduce at our Fresh Café, and after months of trialling blends from around the world, we’ve found our winner…
With notes of chocolate and caramel and hints of nuttiness, our new coffee is a rich blend, sure to impress when you next drop by for a takeaway coffee!
So, what makes this coffee so special you may ask?
Well, for starters, we source our beans from a local supplier here in the Barossa – Bean Addiction. Not only did we do our fair share of testing, but we worked alongside Bean Addiction to achieve our specific vision around the roasting of the beans. We went one step further with a blending session to create something that is now 100% unique to the Fresh café.
Secondly, this rich blend is the highest quality arabica coffee we could get our hands on – a huge win in our eyes.
Third, this is a blend of 60% Costa Rica coffee beans and 40% Brazilian coffee beans. And what makes these coffee beans even more decadent is that the Brazilian beans go through the ‘washed’ process, meaning they are completely de-pulped, removing all of the cherry fruit and are then soaked and allowed to ferment for 12 to 72 hours before being washed clean of any remaining fruit and dried.
The Costa Rica beans are honey processed, where they are de-pulped, but allowed to dry. Most of the coffee cherry is gone, but the remaining golden, sticky mucilage is similar to honey. This honey process is believed to enhance the flavour of the coffee, making it deeper, bolder and even more enjoyable!
Lastly, this beautiful arabica coffee has the Rainforest Alliance mark meaning that for every acre of land that is cultivated for coffee, another acre is planted out. The ultimate environmentally sustainable way to enjoy your coffee!
